Dartmoor Pony

The Dartmoor has been influenced by many breeds over the centuries and was once used by miners to carry tin down from the moors.

It is hardy and surefooted, and its build and temperament make it an ideal child’s first pony.

Origin: Dartmoor in Devon, England.

Colour: bay, black, brown, grey or chestnut, skewbalds and piebalds barred, excessive white markings discouraged.

Height: up to 12.2 hands.

Conformation: small, well-set head with alert ears, strong neck, back and loins, full, high-set tail, well-shaped, hard feet.

Character: docile, calm, willing.

Uses: riding.
