Pinto Horse

An ancient and loved breed of horse, the Pinto is a well-known, very ancient colour breed that is known the world over.

Suitable for almost any type of work, the Pinto is a stunning horse that is adored by many. There are four types of Pinto Horses and ponies, based on the conformation and background:

The stock type is suitable for western events or Hunter Seat events. This type should display the conformation associated with the Quarter Horse.

The hunter type is suitable for the same events as the stock type, but displays the conformation associated with the Thoroughbred, an approved Warmblood, or the running Quarter Horse.

The pleasure type is presented in a natural manner and is suitable for general western, English, and driving events. Its conformation is associated with the Arabian or the classic Morgan breed.

The saddle type is suitable for the same events as the pleasure type and is associated with an American Saddlebred, a Tennessee Walker, or a Missouri Foxtrotter breed.

STOCK TYPE

Pinto is an animal suitable for western events; hunter seat events; and a variety of other events. The Stock Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Quarter Horse breeding. Generally, double-registered Paints (APHA) will be registered in this division. This photo to the left indicates conformation traits of the Stock Type and both mare and foal carry the Overo pattern.

HUNTER TYPE

Pinto is an animal suitable for: hunter seat Events; western events; and a variety of other events. The Hunter Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Thoroughbred, approved Warmblood or running Quarter Horse breeding.

PLEASURE TYPE

Pinto is an animal presented in a natural manner and suitable for: general western, English, and driving events; and a variety of other events. The Pleasure Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Arabian or classic Morgan breeding.

SADDLE TYPE

Pinto is an animal suitable for: general English, western, and driving events; and a variety of other events. The Saddle Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking or Missouri Foxtrotter breeding.

Overall levelheaded and intelligent, loyal, easy to train, versatile, tireless, and docile.
