Developed as a farm horse around the 16th century, it was considered one of the best having great pulling power and being a very good ‘doer’.
Now more often seen pulling brewer’s drays and at shows.

Conformation: large head and deep neck, compact body, powerful.
Character: docile, intelligent.
Uses: draught, show.
