Tarpan Horse

The Tarpan has been recently re-introduced after becoming extinct in the 19th century.

The Tarpan has a long face and convex profile, with long ears and a powerful, short neck.

Origin: Eastern Europe, Russia

Colour: Dun.

Height: about 13hh.

Conformation: The head is large, with massive jaws and thick neck. The back is short and strong, with very low withers. The hooves are dark and very tough, never requiring shoes.

Character: calm disposition, friendly, curious and affectionate.

Uses: presently being used in riding programs for physically and mentally handicapped riders.
