Fell Pony

The Fell pony is renowned for its strength – when used for carting lead on the western side of the Pennines, it was reputedly carried daily loads of 220 lb for up to 30 miles.

Origin: Cumbria, England

Colour: Usually black, though also bay, brown and grey. White markings on legs are allowed.

Height: between 13 and 14hh.

Conformation: alert head and long neck, a muscular body and strong, feathered legs.

Character: alert, hard worker.

Uses: riding, trekking, driving.
