My 19 year old mare has just been diagnosed with stringhalt. Has anyone else out there experienced this or know of any solutions/advice to help ease it.

thanks neil! Ive written to rescue centres that are already set up but none have relpied! I think the best idea is to get somewhere like uve described, i think im going to start up as a livery yard till i get a bit of money and then start taking in retired or mistreated horses, untill eventually i can fill all my stables with rescue cases. Thanks for your reply, hope your dream come true too. :-) x

You can get a tub of gunky stuff called 'Cribox' from any saddlery which is actually supposed to be put on fences, stable doors etc if your horse chews it. I suppose you could get an old lead rope and put a bit on that when you tie your horse up, he might then get used to the fact that it tastes nasty and just get out of the habit - I would recommend you use an OLD lead rope though
