I have been riding a horse at my local riding school and I got a good canter.I was in the riding school with 3 other people and I was the most experianced so i did 1 lap of the school.A 20metre circle and another lap of the school. He speeded up and I was told to use a half halt.I was told by my different instructor told me that I had to keep the same pressure on my legs that sre on my hands or he will fight with me.I don't now which to do.I was told to use my body posture instead but it worked the first time but now I can;t do it.Can you give me any advice on how to slow him down

you may want to check into government grants to help fund your rescue centre, or private parties/ organizations that could help. You will also probably want to take some vet classes in care and treatment for them.

hi my pony used 2 run out or refuse every jump i rode her at big or smal. hav u tried putting a troting pole in between 2 jump wings an then riding her through that a few times on both reins in walk trot and canter to get her used to going through the jump wings. Then gradually put it up so it becomes just a little bit bigger and do the same. what ever you do dont put it up until your horse/pony is happy going over the pole/poles that are in between the jump wings and dont let her refuse or run out make sure she goes over it by encouriging her using a firm voice and then a soft friendly voice when she does go over to praise her. gud luk i hope my advice is of gud use it worked for me.

Rider needed

I have a super horse he will be turning 6years in may. I have had him since he was 2 1/2 years old. I cannot think of parting with him but he needs more work he is ready to compete. I do not have the time or the confidence any more for those big coloured fences but he has. He is not a problem horse and I am not looking for some one to do all the work or pay I just need some one to jump him for the pleasure. Maybe your own horse is lame or you just cant afford your own horse at the moment. Any offers or ideas would be of intrest to me. But the rider must be thoughtful and considerate and be very capable.

I know my horse can run. She flies into the arena for the event & then fizzles out. I think she's just messing with me. I''ve started giving her Red Cell to increase her speed.

Help- taking the bit!

Im a very novice rider in every and have recently bought my own horse. She is an absolute angel in every way except when she is getting her bridle on. i thought it was just because I wasnt too sure about what I was doing but Im getting lessons now and even my instructor struggles for 10 - 20 minutes to get her to take the bit!!!! To start with, she lifts her head and also clamps her mouth shut! If you put your fingers in her mouth and get her to open she then grabs the bit between her teeth to stop you moving it back!!! Once tacked up, she doesnt react in any way that would indicate a problem with her teeth(Ive also had her teeth checked by an equine dentist) but when I take her bridle off, I have to hold her head down to stop her lifting her head and catching the bit in her teeth again!!! Im finding now that Im only riding her when Im getting a lesson or when someone else is there to help me tack her up so Im looking for any suggestions or help!!!!

I am hoping to live in New Zealand and wish to take my horse with me. Has anyone out there experienced flying their horse/s on such a long flight and can anyone advise me on the problems which might arise during the flight. I have been in touch with a number of freight companies but obviously they are a bit biased in what they say because they are trying to get my custom. I just really need to know whether I ought to be taking him on such a long flight.
